![]() When I first started journaling, it was pretty straightforward and simple. Open journal, write the date, set intentions, dump the brain junk. After nearly a year of basically just writing, I began working with a coach who used creativity as the foundation of her process. This was super new to me and made me uncomfortable. I never felt creative. In fact, I didn't think I was creative at all. When I thought about creativity, I would freeze and say, “OH. NOT ME!”. Definitely stuck in limiting belief mode. Fast forward...now I spend around an hour a week watercoloring the blank pages of my journal BEFORE I write. I experiment and explore. Some days, the paintings actually look like something. Other days, it’s a hot mess…. Just like me. Which I’ve learned to accept...100%. I also recognize that creativity shows up in different areas of my life and is not exclusively connected to art. My gifts for designing fun, engaging learning opportunities is an aspect of my creative ability. The fact I can cook delicious meals without specifically following recipes...creativity. The way I view problem solving...creativity. Don’t limit yourself to thinking creativity is only about art, music or theater. Creativity is simply using your imagination . . . in any and every aspect of your life. I now offer corporate training programs that will inspire your employees to become more SoulFully BadAss. I totally agree with your post! People think they have to do what society dictates them to do. Then once they do it, they realize that's not what they wanted, and now they're stuck because they have put themselves in a position where they can't take chances because they can't afford to fail. Everybody has different paths and doesn't need to follow the perceived "right road" because society asks you to. If you have a dream, follow it. Thank you for the tip!
